Why festas
Each parish celebrates its patron saint with a week of band marches, street decorations and fireworks that compete village against village. It is the loudest, brightest expression of Maltese identity — and it happens right outside the door.
Mqabba · Santa Marija
Mqabba is famous for its fireworks. The series includes the original Santa Marija statue photographed among the decorations, alongside the night sky over the parish church on the feast of 15 August.
